Snap.Share.Win. Explore the Outdoors with NRD Recreation Exploration

March 28, 2025

The Lower Platte South Natural Resources District (LPSNRD) is proud to invite outdoor lovers of all ages to join in the 2025 NRD Recreation Exploration campaign—an exciting, statewide adventure that encourages Nebraskans to get outside, discover their local natural wonders, and compete for fun prizes along the way.

Running from March 1 through September 19, 2025, the NRD Recreation Exploration program showcases over 80 NRD-managed recreation areas across Nebraska, including many right here in the Lower Platte South region. With opportunities to hike, bike, paddle, picnic, and fish across our trails, lakes, wetlands, and Wildlife Management Areas, this campaign celebrates the state’s incredible natural diversity—and your chance to explore it all.

Here’s how it works:

Visit any NRD recreation area across Nebraska (don’t forget to explore our own gems like Meadowlark, Wild Plum Lake, or the MoPac Trail).

Snap a photo while you're out enjoying the area.

Share your photo using the submission form HERE.

Each photo submitted counts as an entry to win weekly prizes—and one lucky adventurer will take home the grand prize: $1,500 in Scheels gift cards.

Whether you’re chasing sunrises on the trail, teaching your kids to skip rocks, or simply soaking up the peace and quiet of a wooded overlook, every outing is a chance to connect with nature, get active, and appreciate the vital natural resources we’re proud to protect.

The NRD Recreation Exploration program is made possible by the Nebraska Association of Resources Districts Foundation and our generous partner, Scheels. Together, we’re inspiring a lifelong love for the outdoors and encouraging stewardship of the places that make Nebraska special.

So what are you waiting for? Snap. Share. Win. Your next adventure could start right here in the Lower Platte South NRD.
