Natural Resources Districts, major water utilities and the State of Nebraska have formed the Lower Platte River Drought Consortium to search for ways to sustain public water supplies in the basin.

The Consortium has contracted with HDR Engineering, Inc. to develop tools and alternatives, evaluations and documentation of drought mitigation plans to enhance water supplies in the Lower Platte River. 

"To study long-term water supplies available to the lower subbasin for enhancing streamflows or aquifer storage to support sustainable public water systems."
