Presentations

Classroom presentations help facilitate and integrate environmental education into the classroom. The Lower Platte South Natural Resources District offers classroom presentations on a wide variety of natural resource topics. Fun and innovative hands-on/mind-on activities raise environmental awareness in students and stress the importance of natural resources conservation.

During a classroom presentation, the students become actively engaged in the activity, have fun and enjoy themselves while they learn! Students gain valuable knowledge about the environment they live in, and come away with a new respect for Earth's natural resources.

SOME FAVORITE PRESENTATIONS INCLUDE:

Groundwater Flow Models- This visual model demonstrates to students ground water basics including: a basic cross section of what an aquifer looks like, recharge, water table levels, the difference between confined and unconfined aquifers and point and non-point pollution.

Enviroscape Models- Using this model your students will learn about the connection between surface water and ground water and how human activities can effect water quality.

Build Your Own Aquifer- Students construct seven of their own mini-aquifers to learn basic ground water and pollution concepts by constructing different aquifers with different environmental influences.

Water Limbo- "How low can you go?" The limbo stick goes up and down as students determine if actions have a negative or positive impact on water quality.
